On Saturday, June 4 at 10am at St. John’s Cathedral, Coby Thomas will be ordained to the Permanent Diaconate for the Diocese of Lafayette. Coby and his family are parishioners at Our Lady of Wisdom and he was heavily involved in the Newman Club when he was at USL. Please pray for him and for the other men being ordained to the permanent diaconate. Deacon Coby Thomas will serve his first Mass as deacon at 11am on Sunday, June 5 at Our Lady of Wisdom.
It is with much joy in my heart that I have come to the time in my journey of being ordained a deacon of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Lafayette. My faith journey obviously began when I was baptized as an infant, but not until I was invited by my wife almost 20 years ago to the Catholic Student Center at Our Lady of Wisdom did my conversion really begin. Spending four years at Wisdom during college, and over ten years of being a full time active parishioner, has helped to foster and nurture my vocation as a student, a husband and father, and now a Deacon. Our Lady of Wisdom offered a men’s group where we studied many church teaching and it has allowed me to hear my calling to becoming a Deacon. I am deeply grateful to Fr. Bryce Sibley, Fr. Patrick Broussard, and the last four pastors who all made a deep impact on my life while at Our Lady of Wisdom.
