Charity and Justice
The Charity and Justice Committee helps the parishioners of Our Lady of Wisdom participate in the Body of Christ by caring for their brothers and sisters. As the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church states in paragraph 552,
“promoting the dignity of every person, the most precious possession of men and women, is the ‘essential task, in a certain sense, the central and unifying task of the service which the Church, and the lay faithful in her, are called to render to the human family’[1155]”
This call for the laity to work for social justice is taken seriously at Our Lady of Wisdom, where parishioners strive to live out their faith in Jesus Christ by fostering a commitment to preserving life and justice–a commitment that manifests itself in acts of service. This commitments necessitates a ministry that responds charitably and effectively to human suffering, inequality, and the need for peace.
