Development

The Business and Development committee is responsible for the overall long-range capital development needs, oversees major physical facility improvements and renovations, and oversees any major maintenance requirements of the physical facilities of the Parish. The Business committee is responsible for reviewing and presenting the monthly operating expense report to the Parish Council, and is charged with the responsibility of balancing the business responsibilities of the Parish with Catholic values and Christian morality.

Activities

  • Kurzweg Cafe and Coffee Shop operations
  • Fundraisers
  • 2007 Capital Campaign: Follow the Direction
  • Review Capital improvement needs & review construction proposals
  • Provide support to Father Chester and Father Vidrine during construction phase of any major project
  • Obtain additional support from the Congregation when the need arises
  • Provide guidance and support to Parish staff in developing operational procedures if requested

2007 Capital Campaign: Catholic Compass: Follow the direction

Our Lady of Wisdom has a rich past, and with each passing semester we have a chance to impact the future of our parishioners in numerous ways. We are all continuously moving forward or backward in our day-to-day activities, and it is only with the assistance of God and our parish community that are we pointed in the right direction.

Fathers Chester Arceneaux and Jason Vidrine, along with the staff, trustees and parish council of Our Lady of Wisdom have decided to instill a Capital Campaign in 2007. As you know, Our Lady of Wisdom Church is the Catholic Compass for the students of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and our parishioners. In keeping with this theme, we have decided this campaign will Follow the Direction that God has planned for Wisdom’s future.

A Catholic Compass: Follow the Direction hopes to raise monies to go toward a number of necessary brick and mortar projects on the grounds of the Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church and Catholic Student Center. A few of the plans that will be realized as a result of this campaign include:

  • Interior and Exterior Painting
  • New and renovated pews, flooring and sanctuary renovations
  • Mosaic artwork and Confessional renovation with frosted glass windows added to the back side of the church for extra natural light
  • New Baptismal font
  • Future development funds
  • And much more!

By providing an overall view of Wisdom as it was in the past, and what it is now, together, we hope to create for it a great future.

Giving is a deeply personal matter. It reflects your regard for your community, parish and your concern for its future well-being. Though all donors will be recognized in an appropriate manner, specific commemorative opportunities are available. These commemorative opportunities represent a way you can perpetuate the name of your family, or a loved one, by designating a gift in their name.
