Gifts of Cash

Cash or checks must be received by the Catholic Student Center no later than December 31 to be deductible for the current tax year.  If the donation is mailed, the envelope must be postmarked no later than December 31 to be deductible for the current tax year, even though it may not be delivered until January.  A check written in January, even though dated for the prior year, is not considered a donation for the prior year.

Gifts through E-Giving (FaithDirect)

You have the opportunity to give to the Newman Center electronically via a highly secured site.  Gifts may be scheduled as recurring or one-time donations using your credit or debit card, or e-check.  You will be able to designate your gift for specific funds or needs within our community.

Gifts of Stocks/Securities

If you intend to make a tax-deductible contribution for this tax year, and you want to donate the value of the stock/securities, you must make certain your donation is initiated by you, the donor, and that it is transferred and received in the Catholic Student Center’s brokerage account or other investment accounts, no later than December 31.  If your desire is to donate the physical stock/securities, those shares must be received in our office no later than December 31 to be deductible in the current tax year.

Planned Gifts

Leave a legacy that will advance Catholic life at University of Louisiana, Lafayette for years to come.  A gift to the Catholic Student Center at Our Lady of Wisdom Church in your Will is a simple yet powerful way to impact generations of Catholic young adults here on campus.  For more information about how your gift can be arranged and how it will be used, please call Katie Austin at 337.232.8741.

Donation of Goods

All donated goods must be physically received at the Catholic Student Center no later than December 31 to be tax deductible in this calendar year.  Not sure what goods you could donate?  Check out or Wish List for ideas.

Donating an item you already own to the Catholic Student Center

You will receive a letter that substantiates the in-kind donation as a charitable contribution.  The Catholic Student Center does not determine a value for the item; this is the responsibility of the donor.

Purchasing an item specifically for use at the Catholic Student Center

You may submit the receipt for a charitable in-kind contribution in the amount of the purchase price.

Please contact a Catholic Student Center staff member prior to initiating a donation of an item so that we can ensure you are donating an item we actually need.

Donation of an Automobile

The Catholic Student Center will accept the donation of a new automobile for fundraising purposes only.

We do not accept the donation of used automobiles with the expectation of selling the vehicle for cash, for any purpose.  If you are interested in donating a used automobile, you may sell the automobile and donate the proceeds.

Donation of Services

The Catholic Student Center does not provide verification of volunteer services for tax purposes. Consult your financial advisor regarding the tax deductibility of donated services.

Other gift giving opportunities throughout the year include our Fall, Christmas, and Lenten Appeals, Memorials, and specific program needs, such as student retreats and mission trips, or Lunch with the Lord.
