Reaching Out to the Ragin’ Cajuns

As the presence of the Roman Catholic Church on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus, it is the responsibility and joy of Our Lady of Wisdom Church and Catholic Student Center to reach out to each and every student and faculty member on campus!

It is our desire that everyone passing through the doors of Wisdom can be sustained in his or her adult faith.  Our goal is that each young adult making his or her way out into the world can be informed by a mature Catholic faith and that the decisions that each will make in their lives will be guided by the core Catholic values that we have nurtured within them.  These are the future leaders of our community, our church parishes, our nation, and our world!

As one among many voices trying to reach and form the young adults on our campus, the Ragin’ Cajun Catholic Student Ministry offers each student an opportunity

to be invited into a mature relationship with Jesus Christ and his Church
to be nurtured in the Sacramental life
to be catechized at the university level
to be challenged intellectually and spiritually
to be encouraged to discern his or her vocation
to be affirmed in moral decision making
to be comforted in a community of peers with similar values
to be sent out to share and live the Gospel message.

With a renewed vision for excellence and a commitment to evangelization and outreach, the Ragin’ Cajun Catholic Student Ministry has seen a significant increase in students attending daily Mass, seeking sacramental Confession, committing to study Scripture, discerning vocations, participating in the 20+ ministries offered, and giving back to their community.

The reality of college campus ministry is that we have limited time to make an impact on the lives of the 16,000+ students here at UL.  We cannot complete our mission without your help.  The support you provide will directly impact the lives and spiritual formation of hundreds (potentially thousands) of university students.
