Joey Nelson

Congratulations to Joey Nelson who was accepted as a seminarian for the Diocese of Lafayette today.

Joey is is from New Iberia and just finished his freshman year at UL. He was a very active member of the Newman Club here at Wisdom and he was also a FOCUS student leader.

He will be sponsored by Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish in New Iberia. He still considers himself a Ragin’ Cajun Catholic though.

Continue to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

Kelly Frederick

We want to offer our congratulations to Kelly Frederick who was accepted to the Norbertines of St. Michael’s Abbey in Orange, CA today.

Kelly is a junior and a very active Ragin’ Cajun Catholic here at Our Lady of Wisdom. Many of you may have heard him over the past year chanting at Mass.

I’ve been knowing Kelly since he was one of my altar servers at St. Joseph’s in Parks. It has been a delight having him here as a student and I am very proud of him.

I know the Norbertines at St. Michael’s very well. I went to seminary with several of them and have been out to visit their abbey in California a number of times. Kelly will fit in very well.

Please keep Kelly in your prayers. And please continue to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

Ben Frederick

Even more good news!

Today Ben Frederick was accepted as newest seminarian for the Diocese of Lafayette.

Ben is a UL graduate and a parishioner at Wisdom. He will be sponsored by Our Lady of Wisdom.

That makes seven seminarians sponsored by Wisdom. God has blessed us tremendously. We are very proud of these men who have said “yes” to the Lord’s call.

We also have two men in formation for the permanent diaconate – Juan Pagan and Keith Duhon. God willing they will be ordained to the diaconate in August.

Ordination of Andre Metrejean to the

Transitional Diaconate

Our very own Andre Metrejean will be ordained to the transitional diaconate on May 19 at 10a.m. in St. John’s Cathedral. He will the serve and preach his first Mass as Deacon here at Wisdom at the 11a.m. Mass on Sunday, May 20. There will be a reception following – everyone is invited to this special event.
